“What a treat it was to be on the Moroccan Design Retreat, in the company of wonderful dynamic women in the most beautiful of surroundings.

Marrakesh can seem completely overwhelming at first sight, it is super easy to bypass the chic and hidden treasures. To have someone guide you with a comprehensive and sophisticated itinerary is an absolute must.

Thank you Saphia for organising a trip to remember. The range of experiences was immense, from the Secret Gardens (one of my particular favourites) to the hustle and bustle, colours and contrasts of the souk back to the calm and tranquility of the stunning Riad. In between we also managed to see the best of what contemporary Marrakesh offers in terms of fashion, textiles, homewares, furniture and food…. you somehow managed to cover all bases.

The colours, the architecture, the style, the culture, the cuisine there’s so much to speak about and gain true inspiration from - I still recall sitting in the lushnesses of Le Jardin in awe; wondering how on earth they managed to create this tropical paradise in the middle of a very busy tourist laden souk in the middle of the Medina?!

Without doubt the highlight for me was taking the cooking class followed by lunch at the women’s refuge. The cookery class was great and I learned many things from the very calm and patient Chef Khadija but seeing first hand what the setup successfully manages to deliver for the women it supports, is truly amazing.
